But then you have that boat sequence that could easily be cut out of the game with nothing lost. Blake getting buried alive (In the shittiest grave EVER) was pathetic. Like, a lot of the shocking scenes are sapped of their effect because it's over too quickly. Rushed seems very prominent in this game, which is really strange considering how much padding it has. And in the end it has little bearing on the actual plot. Every other time it was either a boring slog through a bland school, or just a repeat of Jessica screaming about being chased. They want me to be invested in wondering what happened with Jessica, but only a few of these sequences held anything that contributed to that. They were boring, tension-less and overall pointless. The villains we got were bland, a lot of their scenes felt rushed (Hell, the first and only time you have a confrontation with Knothe, it's a few seconds before he kills himself) and nothing they did ever left an impact.Īnd those school scenes. How dare they expect good GAMEplay from a GAME.Īnd the story for this game is nothing to write home about, there was little to be invested about. What about legit criticisms? Like how the games way too dark? Or the padded out school sequences?įor those lazy ass people who hated the game just because it had a bad gameplay
Outlast 2 gameplay skin#
It's basically the Outlast formula covered in a new skin with a couple new wrinkles thrown in. Remember the horribly placed vents?Īll these criticisms above are just odd to me. Properly stealth your way through the game and follow the lights, you should be okay.
Outlast 2 gameplay trial#
Trial & error gameplay? Outlast 2 is not nearly as bad in this regard as people say.
Outlast 2 more so because they tried to be a little too ambitious & ambiguous but if you think about the story for a few minutes it actually comes together fairly well. The story was confusing? Both games are slightly guilty of this. At least Outlast 2 switched up the environments from time to time. The Walrider & Chris Walker segments say hello. Repetitive chase sequences? Both have plenty. My only problem with the critics and some other people are that they complained about issues that were heavily prevalent in Outlast 1 yet they praised them in the first game. I'm hoping there would be a DLC for the game like a story or a prequel telling Murkoff's experiments on Temple Gate.
Outlast 2 gameplay series#
For those lazy ass people who hated the game just because it had a bad gameplay, please have a wider perspective and be more invested on the story, like reading the Murkoff Account comics and theories/explanations put up together by devoted fans of the series in other post of this reddit. and chasing scenes were the only ones that kind of pulled me back, but nevertheless, It is very story-wise and has deeper connection to the first game. These collectibles tie up the connection between all of the games. I would call it the "proper" ending to the game because the original ending where you prayed with Jessica was a total cliffhanger.
The collectibles in this game are the most essential part of the game. Some of you may think that the collectibles are a waste of time, but no. It was supposed to end like that so you could have the time to form all the pieces. Red Barrels told us that the game has a loose connection to the first two games, and you could find it out all by watching all the footage you've taken after you beat the game. I get it, Outlast 2 is a horror game, it's supposed to scare you but not at all times, it's a game, it's also telling you a story about what's happening to the town and Murkoff. I don't get it it why won't they see the game as a story of a much wider lore connecting all the games and comics instead of viewing it as a horror game.
Outlast 2 gameplay Patch#
The developers could just patch it up you know. critics and lazy players) who are centralizing their hate on the game by how horrible the gameplay and A.I.
